Marc Cushman - Author/Writer/Director/Producer
Marc Cushman was born in San Diego, but grew up with a traveling father, gaining an education on the road, making pit-stops
in San Francisco, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington, before landing in Los Angeles. The travels were eye-opening, but the solitude of spending five years on a dairy farm outside Tillamook, Oregon resulted in deepening Marc’s knack for entertaining himself through writing. He has since entertained himself - and worked - in TV and film for 30 years.
Marc's TV writing assignments include scripts for STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, BEYOND BELIEF: FACT OR FICTION, and DIAGNOSIS: MURDER. His feature film credits include MIDNIGHT CONFESSIONS, TARESSA'S TATTOO, THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS, and the soon-to-be released IN THE EYES OF A KILLER. In addition, Marc has numerous screenplays under option, such as the Western BROOMDANCER, to Academy Award winning producer Fred Roos (maker of THE GODFATHER movies, APOCALYPSE NOW, and THE BLACK STALLION) and DADDY SAYS to HBO. As a writer/producer, Marc created and served as show runner for two TV series: the cult comedy CHANNEL K and its spin-off, the original BACHELOR PAD (not to be confused with the current ABC series of the same name).
Marc's directing credits include the award winning comedy-documentary DESPERATELY SEEKING PAUL McCARTNEY, AN EVENING WITH THE GOLDDIGGERS, THE STORY OF O: UNTOLD PLEASURES, and a pair of recent TV pilots. There have also been numerous instructional films, music videos, and infomercials, and this experience has enabled Marc to appreciate writing within the constraints of shooting schedules and budgets. Marc shares this knowledge as a teacher of screen writing at Pierce College, Woodland Hills, California, for their Adult Extension program.
Marc occasionally takes a break from writing for television by writing about television, with his "biography of a TV show," I SPY: A HISTORY OF THE GROUNDBREAKING TELEVISION SERIES and the upcoming mammoth (over 1000 pages!) THESE ARE THE VOYAGES: AN EPISODE-BY-EPISODE HISTORY OF THE ORIGINAL STAR TREK. To be released in three 500 page volumes from Jacobs/Brown in summer 2013
Marc is currently serving as President of Los Angeles based Alameda Writers Group (see Writers Group button for additional information)." This is Marc's 5th term, spanning 15 years of the AWG's history.
